Week Three

I very much enjoyed the readings this week. I especially loved "the formula"

1. Get Up Early
2. Word Hard
3. Get Your Education
4. Find Your Oil
5. Make Your Mark
6. Get Prepared To Be Of Service

I do believe that this formula will bring me success. I especially believe in the need to serve. When we serve only ourselves, it is much more difficult to find happiness. When we love and serve those arounds us, it is much easier to find joy and meaning.

I also found the chapter about finances to be very important. I learned something new from it that I will apply into my life as soon as possible. James Ritchie shared some ideas from George Clason's book, "The Richest Man in Babylon". He said we should have three accounts. The first is 10% of our monthly income and it only grows. We take nothing from it. The second is for our day to day lives, including groceries and bills. The third account holds the "extra" money we have. It is to be saved for emergencies, or larger purchases that need to be saved up for. Up until now, I only had two accounts, one for spending and one for saving. I tried my best to never use the savings, but I often have to dip into it. Even still it has been nice to have the money saved in emergency situations, and when we decided to buy a car. We are proud to say that we are debt free.

I really want to have a third account, I'm just honestly not sure we can afford to take out another 10% and make it untouchable. My husband currently has a very small salary that he uses to support himself, me, our daughter, and his mother and uncle. The sooner I can start working, the more I can contribute.
